miRNA:

hsa-miR-224

Disease:

hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)

Relationship type:

Causal

Detection method for miRNA expression:

Northern blot, qRT-PCR etc

Expression pattern of miRNA:

up-regulated

Validated targets of miRNA from the reference:

API-5

Validated targets of miRNA from TarBase:

unknown : More...

Predicted targets: MIRANDA, TARGETSCAN, PICTAR-VERT

Description:

miR-224, which is up-regulated in the tumors of HCC patients, sensitizes cells to apoptosis through the inhibition of API-5 at the mRNA levels and increases cell proliferation. Significantly, miR-224 expression was found to be inversely correlated with API-5 expression in HCC patients.
