Description: The translation of the tumor suppressor gene PDCD4 is negatively regulated by the miRNA miR-21 in HEK-293T, MCF-7 and JB6 cell lines, and provides evidence that the mir-21 gene functions as an oncogene to promote cell transformation.Reduced PDCD4 expression
has been reported in at least six human tumor types or cancer cell lines (lung, brain, renal, breast, colon and pancreas),indicating that mir-21/PDCD4 is likely to be a clinically significant oncogene:tumor suppressor pair in the induction and progression of human carcinomas. |
